A long time ago when I first started blogging (has it really been almost eight years now?) I used to do a lot of tagging and blog memes and awards and such. (Then again, I used to write every. single. day. Funny how three more children and a farm to run can change things, isn’t it?) Anyway, I’ve got the distinct pleasure of being included on two this past week, so I’m having some fun and playing along.
First up is a list of eleven questions from my friend Sara. (See, I told you I’d do it!)
1. What’s the best dessert you’ve ever eaten….care to share the recipe? – What can I say I have a mega sweet tooth and I’m always looking for new sugary good recipes to test out!
Wow, that’s a hard one…I don’t make desserts much, and what I do make is good but nothing you probably don’t already have a recipe for. I guess if I really had to put the “best” label on anything it’d be a tie between my mother’s cheesecake (which I very unfortunately do not have the recipe for) and a profiterole I once had at a tiny little Italian restaurant in Pawley’s Island, SC that my husband and I ate at on our honeymoon. I should look up recipes for those. THAT would be worth sharing!
2. Would you rather have 5 cute non name brand tops or bag costing $20 each or 1 name brand top or bag that costs $100?
I really can’t imagine spending $100 for a single top or bag. For that matter, I can’t imagine spending $20 for a single top anymore. Honestly, with my life it’d be a waste of money. I don’t go to the kinds of places or do the kinds of things that would warrant a $20 top. So, to answer the question, I’d take the five tops but probably wouldn’t spend more than $50 on them. I’d use the rest of the money on pig feed.
3. Are you jealous of the amount of technology kids today have available to them, the world at their fingertips… or are you thankful you grew up in the pre camera phone, every detail of your life posting to FB, no GPS, no internet on hand / no online shopping, no smart phone days?
I’m thankful I grew up pre-tech. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the internet and all it has to offer. I’ve “virtually” met some of the most fascinating, intelligent, understanding, humorous, thought-provoking people I could hope to know thanks to Twitter and Facebook, all of our farm customers found us online, it’s a big help to me and the girls for homeschool, and our biggest source of entertainment comes from video-streaming via Roku. So yeah, I appreciate technology and the many benefits it has to offer. However, I think a lot of people get way too carried away with it. Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t want to be connected to the rest of the world every single moment. It’s nice to know I can “plug in” when I want, but it’s just as good to unplug and walk away.
4. First Concert you attended…did it live up to your expectations?
Don’t laugh, but my first concert ever was Rick Springfield (with special guest Corey Hart…the “Sunglasses at Night” guy. Anybody remember him?) I went because a friend of my sister’s ended up with two tickets she didn’t want, and my best friend was absolutely in love with him. Seriously, her bedroom was a Rick Springfield shrine. I was fifteen years old, it was the first time I got to leave the house without another member of the family, and I got to spend an evening watching a really cute guy about the size of my thumb play a guitar and sing songs I heard on the radio every day in an auditorium filled with screaming females. I take it back, you have my permission to laugh.
5. Coffee or Tea…or do you go straight for the caffeine IV like I do?
Coffee in the morning (and afternoon…and after dinner.) Hot tea at night, occasionally. Heart palpitations? What are those?
6. Favorite Disney Movie…or Dreamworks, I’m not picky, just nosey ;p
Fantasia. Don’t hate me, I used to be a musician.
7. Playstation, XBox, Wii, or strictly phone?
We have a Playstation 2, but most of the time it sits on a shelf in the closet. I’m old-school Nintendo, baby!
8. Do you leave the water running while you brush your teeth? (If you answered yes can I BEG you to stop…it’s a huge issue of mine…don’t laugh….Water is so precious we shouldn’t waste it)
Absolutely not. Water IS precious. Leaving it running while brushing your teeth makes no sense to me.
9. Flats or Heels?
Does that answer your question?
10. Favorite place to vacation, or place you’d love to vacation some day?
Anyplace where I can admire the magnificent beauty of nature, preferably sky stretching to the horizon. The beach, the mountains, and Kansas all come to mind.
11. Wise Words – Share a quote or tiny tidbit of info that’s pretty genius
I loves this quote by Forest Witcraft:
One hundred years from now
It will not matter
what kind of car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
… … how much money was in my bank account
nor what my clothes looked like.
But the world may be a better place because
I was important in the life of a child.
The second thing that happened last week (remember I said there were two?) was being given the Versatile Blogger Award by one of my favorite Facebook friends, fellow South Carolinian, and woman I admire greatly, Canning Granny.
According to Canning Granny, there are rules attached to this award, and they read as such:
1. Add the award to your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who gave it to you.
3. Mention seven random things about yourself.
4. List the rules.
5. Award to 15 bloggers.
6. Inform each of those 15 by leaving a comment on their blog.
Thanks again, Granny! Now, seven random things about me…
1. I’m extremely introverted.
2. I just finished the chicken and dumplings that were left over from yesterday’s dinner. Yum!
3. I want a pressure-canner for my birthday.
4. I’m listening to 80s music as I type this. Later, I might put on some jazz. Or country. Or gospel. Or Neil Diamond. There’s no telling what mood I’ll be in.
5. I got up at 4:30 this morning.
6. Even with early mornings, there just aren’t enough hours in the day, because…
7. I want to learn and do EVERYTHING.
I know I’m supposed to award this to 15 more bloggers, but seriously? I’m pretty sure there aren’t 15 bloggers that even know me anymore, so let’s just say that if YOU are a blogger and you’re reading this, consider yourself awarded. And feel to answer the first eleven questions, too. Or skip it altogether. Really, I’m good with whatever you decide. If you’re happy, I’m happy.
Oh, and if you are a blogger and you’re not on my blog list (under the Links/Resources tab…go ahead and look, I’ll wait for you….back? Okay, let’s continue…) As I was saying, if you’re not on my blog list, leave a link in the comments so I can come check you out. Or connect with me on Facebook. Or Twitter. Whatever works for you. Like I said, If you’re happy, I’m happy. That’s just how I roll.

I love hearing all the random stuff – so fun! Love the concert you went to – I would SO have wanted to go to that!! LOL! But all I got to go to was Huey Lewis and the News.
And I’m sure I’ve never spent $100 on any 1 item of clothing or accessories! Hope you’re having a great weekend!
